I was fortunate this weekend to get back out to the nature preserve that was partially burned due to a wildfire about a month or so ago. What amazes me is just how fast the area is responding to the burn and how resilient some plants are to fire. Other than pine trees, the most abundant plant in the burned area is saw palmetto which is rebounding very fast and exhibiting new growth. Early in my morning walk through the preserve, my eyes were attracted to back lit saw palmetto fronds exhibiting new and old growth. I liked these fronds due to the contrasting colors and patterns.
