If you had viewed the Equipment/Processing portion of my website you might recall that on my wishlist was a 12-24mm lens. Well, after my backyard macro photo essay was published in the May 2013 issue of Shutterbug magazine, I was able to purchase a used Nikon 12-24mm lens several weeks ago. Up until this time, my widest lens was an 18-200mm zoom which in the DX format is 27mm at the widest setting. At its widest setting the 12-24mm lens is 18mm in the DX format. You might think that there wouldn't be much difference between 27mm and 18mm, but believe me it is a world of difference. A week ago this Friday I went and photographed an abandoned house using my 18-200mm zoom and got some nice images. The following day I received the 12-24mm zoom lens and went back to the same house; what a pleasant surprise. This lens is going to open a whole new world for me. The image below was processed using Nik's Color Efex Pro and the Dark Constrast filter.
