I have about 10,000, 35mm slides sitting in boxes in my closet. As great as I thought 35mm slide film was in its hay day, it just doesn't come close to present day digital images. On ocassion, I will select a slide that I like and scan it using a Nikon Coolscan. I'm always horrified after the initial scan based on the amount of grain/digital noise present. Thankfully, there is software which is very good at removing some of these artifacts. Currently, I use Nik's Define to assist in this matter.
